Customer Feature: Fence Road Farm Brewery

Just an hour northwest of New York City, The Oasis at Warwick is becoming a destination like no other. Opening this fall, Fence Road Farm Brewery (FRFB) is blending craft beer, farm-to-table dining, disc golf, and community events into an experience they call “Fungriculture.”

When co-owner Dan Doyle first discovered the property in 2011, he immediately knew it was something special.

“I stumbled upon this amazing property and instantly thought, this is an oasis,” Dan recalls. “I’d been dreaming about creating a space for people to gather—a place with great food, a brewery, an event venue, and an 18-hole disc golf course. This property checked every box.”

Six months later, Dan purchased the 47-acre farm, and The Oasis Disc Golf Course opened in 2012. It has since evolved into a nationally recognized course, and Dan, now a World Disc Golf Hall of Fame Class of 2025 inductee, hopes to host major tournaments televised on sports networks.

“Disc golf has been such a passion of mine. Being able to integrate it into this bigger vision of community and sustainability makes it even more exciting,” he says.

Dan coined the term Fungriculture to describe his philosophy:

“It’s about blending agriculture, socializing, and recreation into something meaningful and fun. We want people to feel connected—to the land, to each other, and to the experience.”

This philosophy is everywhere at The Oasis. Maple trees are tapped for syrup, mushrooms are cultivated in oak logs, and a sawmill re-purposes fallen trees into beams, furniture, and the stunning taproom bar.

“We want everything to have a story—from the beams at the front entrance to the tables you’re sitting at,”Dan explains.

Food is a cornerstone of FRFB’s vision. The brewery will serve beer, mead, cider, and fruited drinks crafted by co-owner and brewmaster Charlie Holmgren using fruits and berries grown on-site. And when it comes to food, the star of the show will be wood-fired pizza.

“I spent a lot of time researching pizza ovens and finally settled on a Bread Stone Oven,” says Zack Doyle, Dan’s son and FRFB’s kitchen manager. “We’re loving it!”

The oven, fueled entirely by wood harvested from the farm, will produce an exciting pizza menu.

“We’ll have eight to ten varieties,” Zack shares. “I think our Fig & Gouda pie—with balsamic, pear, garlic, and arugula—is going to be a big hit. And the Hot Honey Pepperoni pie? That one’s going to fly out of the oven.”

Zack also loves that the Bread Stone Oven fits perfectly with their farm-to-table ethos:

“It’s all about quality and authenticity for us. Having a real wood-fired oven ties everything together.”

FRFB is committed to being more than just a brewery. Its event space will host weddings, workshops, game nights, and a weekly farmers market.

“If you have a special skill you want to share, or if you’re eager to learn something new, this is the place,”says Dan. “We want to create a space that nourishes people—body and soul.”

With acres of farmland, a state-of-the-art kitchen, and that stunning outdoor pavilion featuring their Bread Stone Oven, Fence Road Farm Brewery is ready to welcome everyone to The Oasis at Warwick this fall.

“We can’t wait for people to experience what we’ve built. It’s going to be something special,” Dan says with a smile.
