This week I had the privilege of visiting Jim and Andrea, founders and operators of The Rolling Stonebaker Wood Fired Pizza!
For the past 4 years they have been offering fantastic artisan pizza baked in our wood fired oven mounted on a Vintage Studebaker truck.
All the ingredients are local, fresh, and seasonal, making their pizzas the most creative I have ever encountered.
One of my favorites is the Purple Pig; home smoked pulled pork with red cabbage.
As Andrea let me cook a couple of pizzas in their Four Grand Mere 1500 B oven, she placed a pizza in the oven with thin slices of lemon. As I curiously inquired she insisted I try it. Flavorful and refreshing, the unique combination of prosciutto ham and Meyer lemons were most welcomed on this hot July day.
Based out of the beautiful town of Beverly Shore, IN, you can find them at local farmers markets, all types of events, and private catering.
As Jim and I were chatting, he shared with me his passion for music and how he used to perform prior to starting this latest venture which explained the inspiration of the business’s name.
In that love for music, and wanting to help artist, they put together the Lightning Bug Music Festival event held at beautiful Sunset Hill Farm County Park, 775 Meridian Rd, Valparaiso, Indiana. Last year’s inaugural fest drew more than 1,000 people and received rave reviews from attendees. A celebration for music lovers, Lightning Bug also features regional craft beer and wine, kids’ program area and a food truck village serving up fresh, local fare. Gates open at 11 a.m. Music begins at noon.
Headlined by 2015 Grammy winner Jerry Douglas presents The Earls of Leicester, artists were selected to please the whole family in the hope that everyone will be dancing, laughing and making memories together. National touring acts will perform in our own backyard, in an idyllic location and for a great cause, Dunes Learning Center. This local nonprofit hosts nature camp programs year-round in the heart of Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore. Festival proceeds will provide Dunes Learning Center summer camp experiences to children in need.
