Using Wood-Fired Pizza to Bring Comfort After the Storm

At The Bread Stone Ovens Company, we love seeing our ovens used in unexpected and meaningful ways—and Insurance Claim HQ is a perfect example of that.

Bobby Childs, Marketing Director at Insurance Claim HQ, gave us some more insight on their work, their mission, and how a single wood-fired pizza oven became an unlikely but powerful tool for community recovery.

A Business Built on Helping People Rebuild

Insurance Claim HQ is a property casualty law firm founded in August 2020, with a mission that’s clear and unwavering: helping homeowners recover after hurricanes, fires, and other devastating disasters.

“Our mission has always been and will always be to help homeowners recover,” Bobby said. And that purpose extends far beyond paperwork and legal claims—it shows up in the way they support communities on the ground.

Based in Louisiana and operating nationwide, the team sees firsthand what happens when everything familiar is suddenly gone. That perspective has shaped how they approach their work—and how they decided to use a wood-fired oven.

Pizza in Places Where It’s Needed Most

After a disaster, Insurance Claim HQ deploys their Insurance Claim HQ Storm Team directly into affected areas. Their goal isn’t just legal assistance—it’s care, comfort, and connection.

“One thing we noticed,” Bobby explained, “was that nobody was making fresh, wood-fired pizzas in these areas.”

So they changed that.

With one mobile pizza oven, the team began serving hot, freshly made wood-fired pizza to disaster victims—often in places with no power, limited resources, and few comforts. The response? Overwhelmingly positive.

Sometimes a hot meal isn’t just food—it’s a moment of normalcy, relief, and human kindness when it’s needed most.

Overcoming the Logistics of Disaster Response

Running a pizza operation in disaster zones is no small task. For the Storm Team, the biggest challenge was figuring out how to replicate the pizza-making process at scale, often hundreds of miles from their office and without power for days at a time.

That’s where the simplicity and reliability of a wood-fired oven really shines.

Being able to fire up an oven, cook efficiently, and serve quality food under tough conditions made all the difference—and allowed their team to focus on what matters most: helping people.

The Joy of Seeing Recovery Firsthand

When asked about their favorite part of being a business owner, Bobby didn’t hesitate.

“One of the greatest feelings is seeing homeowners fully recover from a disaster.”

That sense of purpose fuels everything they do—from legal advocacy to firing pizzas for people who’ve lost so much.

And when it comes to favorites from the oven? The clear winner so far is a BBQ Chicken pizza, which was a crowd favorite at a conference they hosted earlier this year.

Inspired by Resilience

At the heart of Insurance Claim HQ’s work is deep respect for the people they serve.

“We’re inspired by the resilience of homeowners and business owners who refuse to give up when everything feels stacked against them,” Bobby said. “Their determination drives us to fight harder and make sure they’re treated fairly.”

We couldn’t think of a better example of how a wood-fired oven can be more than a business tool—it can be a source of warmth, community, and hope.

We’re honored to be a small part of the work Insurance Claim HQ is doing across the country, and we’re proud to see a Bread Stone Oven used in service of something so meaningful.

Because sometimes, rebuilding starts with a slice.
